callie (who may become wolf) is what i would call semi tame you can pick him/her up but need to be careful she/he will bite but hasn't really bit all that hard my handfed baby irn has taken bigger chunks out of my hand than callie has and I LOVE callie she/he i felt so horrible for the pet store where i got him (gonna just start saying him) from had him in a small cage with no toys and he would make this loud horrible beeping noise anytime someone came close to his cage well they got him as a handfed baby and had a hard time selling him for some reason so he was in the store for two yrs and they didn't mess with him to much so he got a bit cage aggressive, well in jan of this yr hubby was shopping with me and looking around for a bday present and guess what he got me YEP callie (what a great guy huh?) well it took me less than an hr for him to start coming out of the cage willingly but on his own no hands so i used the extra perch to have him step up then he was actually letting us pick him up with our hands but from the mintue we got home no beeping noises or at least loudly...then a day later he was actually whistling songs i wanted to find him a mate and start breeding them but i am having a hard time finding any in minnesota and to be honest i don't know if i want to i love this bird
just a litte infor on the moustache they are in the same family as the irn and quakers

Hi
Thanks for that info re if he's tame! There are three IRN's in our local pet store - two blue and one green. I don't think they are tame but they don't go beserk like my red-rumps if you go near them. I gather they are too, semi-tame. These birds have been in there a while now aswell and I feel REALLY SORRY for them, one has started to pluck his feathers, I as yet don't know which are boys or girls (no visible rings) but they don't fight each other I think it may be two girls and one boy - if I took just one, I'd feel bad leaving the others behind. They are gorgeous but look so sad. I do worry that they might be ill, coz that pet store isn't the best when it comes to bird care, they leave them sitting in a tiny box with one perch which is broken so is hanging down loose and these poor darlings are sitting on that.
I think you've just inspired me, I think this is the nest bird(s) I am MEANT to get!!!
Cheers for that.....now I just have to comvince my husband to let me the cash Surprised( ...and go on Ebay for a cheap cage ;o)

I love this family of birds...i want to find a pair of blue quakers next. I felt so sorry for my stace keet because of being there for so long without a home i figured even if he never tamed down i can get a mate for him but i think he's going to be fine
