YAY! I'm SO excited that I finally put Kewi in the shower with me today & had a RIOT! She really seemed to like it to - she never stopped chattering & laughing the entire time! Tho she didn't get real wet as I put the shower perch out of the way of the direct stream, but close enough that some was gently splashing her if she moved to the end of the perch.
She was so cute licking the water off my nose :D
BUT... when we were finished, I was just reaching to get her when the darn perch FELL DOWN!!! Now I'm hoping that hasn't scared her so much that she'll not like it the next time, as that's exactly what happened with my macaw.
I've got a nice, macaw sized shower perch, with rubberized pleated material around it for a good grip & 3 very large suction cups. I cleaned the wall surface & the suction cups with alcohol before putting it up, but it still fell!!!
Does any one shower their birds in the shower? And if so, what kind of perch do you use & how do you get it stay on? _________________ Cathy |

Hi Cathy
I shower with Pinchy. I use the small sized "polly" shower perch.
It hasn't fallen on us yet but I can't praise it too much, it's already rusting at the end and one bit came loose so I had to re-glue it...but I paid a packet for it. I use a flannel over the perch so that he doesn't slip of the perch.
I think inventing your own is probably better and safer! I'm not sure what you could use to invent one for a macaw sized bird but maybe something like a towel rack with suction caps or something like that?? _________________

Hi Kat!
I've recently ordered a new shower perch. It hooks onto, & hangs from the shower door so there's no chance of it falling. It's made of PVC & the perch part is textured to prevent the bird from slipping.
I haven't got it yet, but hopefully it'll come this week. I'm really excited about it :D _________________ Cathy |

Hey Cathy!
That sounds really good!! What is the brand name of this perch? How low does it hang from the top ogf the door?
When you get it - could you post a pic of it ...if Manu or Kewi aren't too bashfull displaying them selves in the shower, to the cyber world,.... maybe have them in the pic too?? That would be really cool to see - I don't think I've seena macaw in a shower yet _________________

There's a picture of it on the link below:

And of course I'll get pics of the birds on it They wont mind!
I don't know about Manu tho. I'll have to wait until I actually see it. He's only been in the shower once a long time ago, that's when the shower perch fell & it scared him so badly. Now I'm anxious to try to get him in the shower again, but I wont try unless I know it's sturdy enough to hold him. _________________ Cathy |
