Hi all
I know that I shouldn't be giving my GC Conure milk but he's always so eagerly awaiting his little drink of milk from my cereal bowl, every morning. Should I stop this or will he be ok with such a small amout. He only takes a few "beak-fulls" and then he leaves.
Thanks all for any advice you may have! |

Birds don't have the enzymes in their GI tract to digest lactose. So really No they shouldn't have it. But, dairy in really small doses shouldn't be a problem. Just don't over do it.

I don't know why he likes it that much - it's wierd. But yeah, I wasn't sure if I was doing the wrong thing...I think I might cut down on some days and have toast instead ;o)
Cheers for that Janseenie |

I probably wouldn't let him have it daily, but maybe a little bit as a special treat once in awhile.
That's funny he likes it so much
When Manu hurt his beak a long time ago, I didn't realize birds shouldn't have milk, & since his beak was sore & he wouldn't eat I ended up giving him bread soaked in warm milk & he ate it really good until the vet told me to use warm water instead of milk. _________________ Cathy |
